Update on Liberty. We don't even have to keep the toilet lid shut anymore. She has found her water bowl and uses it regularly! The trash can issue, however, has only gotten worse.
Friday, I had to run to the store for just a minute. The dogs were inside, and I didn't want to put them out, so I put the trash can in a kitchen chair and pushed it up against the table. I was gone, seriously, 15 minutes. When I got home, the chair was pushed over and had a broken slat on the chair back where it hit the floor, and the trash was scattered from one end of the house to the other. Apparently, her target was an empty Taco Bell platter that was in the very bottom of the can. It might have had a quarter teaspoon of cheese left on it. I found it laying on her pillow in the living room.
I am not proud, but I will admit that I was sooooo mad that she had knocked over my chair to get to the trash and broke it, that I threw the trash can at her. The only thing that did was bust the bottom of the can and forced me to go to the store again to buy a new trash can.
I bought this one Clicky. Maybe she will have a harder time getting into it. This is my last attempt at keeping her out of the trash. If this doesn't work, she will just have to stay outside all day while I'm working. I like to let them in to enjoy the A/C when it's so hot, but Liberty won't be able to do that. I'll still let Bella in, but Liberty will be a yard dog until I am in the house and have my undivided attention to give her.
