Perhaps I should add, that we, Sarah and I, don't have anything against border collies; we have two. Just Mike is 17 and probably want be with us much longer. He finished third in the 2005 NADAC Championships. Sarah ran Fire, an 11-year old border collie in this years champs. She ran in a different division than we did, one that emphasized distance work - the dog and the handler are often 40 or more feet apart. They finished sixth in that division. Sarah also ran a golden retriever and finished eighth in their division, made up of dogs less than 7 years in age. Breeze ran with the more experienced dogs, 7, 8, and 9 years old. Each division was also based on jump height of the dog - small dogs don't compete against large dogs.
I chose a golden retriever for reasons other than agility, but agility is something we enjoy doing together.
