I am so sorry for your loss of Earl. But you did the humane thing for him. My DH and I have had to put down 7 of our dogs over the yrs. It has never been an easy but we have know for their comfort it needed to be done. I wish in a way we could do this with human lives instead of making our 2 legged love ones suffer - Don't want to start an uproar here.
I hope the memories will lift you up. I know in our case this is what got us through.
