Good thing I live in Arizona, the dachshunds absolutely hate the rain.

Must be something to strip #2 for doxies as well - any food dropped never makes it all the way to the floor.

I have Chesapeake Bay retrievers. Most of my dogs have had a lightly wavy smoothish coat. But finally, I have one with a almost poodle thick curl coat. Given that I love to put my own paws into dog fur coats, you know that's a dream come too.

When they've been out in the rain, I find they dry pretty fast in the house.

But if we are on the road, we do about 10 minutes of retrieving fun to help get the wet out, especially, if we've put the wet in via swimming.

For those who have border collies or mixes

We prefer smooth coats

Couldn't keep my Border Collie/Mix (heavy long double coat like BCs) out of the water......streams, creeks, ponds, oceans

But try to give her a bath with garden hose......like wrassling an octopuss

Not experienced those dogs, only a heavy coated Border Collie who loved the water and frequently had a mildew smell because his coat would not dry fast.
