Update on Bud (11-22-15)

Just a quick note Bud is doing fine and is adjusting to the Phenobarb. He is also eating better and hopefully putting on a little weight. Just took him down today for blood work to check dosage.

  • Poor Bud! It's a setback but in time you'll get the dosage worked out so he can remain seizure free. With one of my dogs who had seizures, as he aged the seizures became less and less until finally he had none. Up here in the great white north (Northern Illinois) I stop giving the heartworm protection in November, and don't start it until April. It was 8 degrees here this morning - I doubt if any mosquitos have survived the blizzard we had yesterday and its cold temperatures.

  • The vet called Thursday and said we need to increase Bud's dosage from the blood test. The very next day Bud had seizure that was mild and Bud recovered quickly.

Bud Has been on quality food and I did not give him a Sentinel since we had are first hard freeze. I know the vet said there is no proven connection between food and the small dose in Sentinel but I had to see for myself.

I do not want this to turn into a argument and offer this as information only in case you are faced with the same scenario.
  • Great to hear that Bud is improving, he will be in my prayers for a quick and full recovery. Thanks for update.
  • Hope all continues to go well for Bud and you!
