I thought my vet was expensive, but now I know it's common. I took my little Maddie in for her yearly physical, heartworm test, fecal test, Dhpp, and Canine Influenza vaccines yesterday, and paid $178. I declined bloodwork, which would have increased the total. Currently, I only do bloodwork every couple of years. If I see a problem, or as she ages, that will probably change.
I left my previous vet, whom I loved, several years ago when the office went corporate. When I went in after the change, the new office staff had no clue who I was (even after going in a few more times) and was very impersonal. They also pushed the yearly health care packages at each visit, which I declined every time. It got old. I left.
