vet prices

I consider my vet to be a bargin. Cooper got his teeth cleaned, anesthesia, blood work up, x-rays, antibiotics for around $350. Vet's have to have extensive training, building, property tax, utilities, insurance, staff, medical equipment and inventory. Lots of overhead. My vet has met me at all hours, once to sew up Lassie's dog snout that she split open from a fence. Another time on a holiday. The quality of my Collies care is very important to me. I'm extremely grateful to have a such a great veteran who has a genuine care for my Collies.

My people doctor charged me over $200. for less then 10 min to tell me it was probably alergies.

Vet prices are edging up toward people prices. We got our 1st dog in 1974, and our last dog passed in July of 2013. Traveling is much simpler now, but I never would have given up any of our dogs.

I can get a physical for my Min-Pin for around $65, that includes the worm test and the rabies shot. Then to have her nails trimmed I take her about 10 miles in the other direction where I can get her nails clipped for $4 and a bath for $12 more.

Now that we are on the road full-time, we have seen several vets in different areas, so see different prices and as new patients many times know that we will not get any kind of discount. One vets office charged $25 for a nail trim which I thought was outrageous. Most charge around $15.

Be happy. I took my 2 in for shots and nail clipping. $424 total. Included 20 Xanax for Bat-dog, but still...

I pay it because I like this office - they handle Bat-dog's people fear well and don't do things to upset her (like prior vet who created the fear in the first place by the way she handled her).

I do miss my old vet who kept costs down and offered shot clinics and spay/neuter clinics. Helped a lot when I was fostering.

I have two dogs and live in south-central PA. Sounds about right...in fact, it may be a bit less than what I pay. The office visit ALONE for two dogs would be $62 EACH. Maybe you thought you were only charged for one visit?
Even though you took two dogs in, I'm sure the charge was for two.
