I agree with the other posters - putting both of my elderly dogs down was done with gentle love towards the pet and myself. EVERYONE was sympathetic; and the whole process was handled as the death of a dearly beloved should be. If I had wanted to sit and stroke the fur for an hour, they would have let me.
