We have a remote thermometer that lets us know, while we're driving, the temp in the back where the dog is. When the dash AC isn't enough anymore, we stop and turn the generator on to keep her comfy. Time of day varies a lot, with the weather and direction of travel. The thermometer also has another sensor in the fridge, to let us know if it is getting too warm and adjustments need to be made. I think this thermometer came from the hardware dept in WalMart.
