Unfortunately, in many cases, price does reflect quality but I'm open for suggestions for finding a highly rated food at the lowest cost comparatively speaking?
I think the advice below by Dr. Doug is probably the best. Saving money can be a determining factor, but whether you spend more or less may be offset but how your dogs react to it.
Quality = what works in your dog. May be higher price or it may be lower price.
Our bluetick coonhound ate the lowest quality food and was never sick in 13 years. Other than shots, regular physicals and one leg injury he never went to the vet. We had Jesse & Jake on Blue Buffalo but on the advice of two breeders put them on Pro Plan. Ingredients are similar but not exact-less stool, better coats & skin on the Pro Plan. I don't pay attention to who sues who because most of it is just ploys to garner attention. I DO, however, pay attention to class action lawsuits filed by the yous and mes of the world. I also listen to various breeders, vets (mine is also a strong believer in whatever works) and the opinions of people like BCSnob and others on here who have experience in this type of thing. Might not always agree, but it does give me the info I need to make an informed decision.
