You may of hit on an answer. They don't get out much for exercise in the summer 110* heat here in AZ. One of the dogs had heat stroke while in the yard with me.It doesn't take long. Since then I don't let them out for more than about 15 minutes. I've run the food gauntlet, all grain free and most limited ingredients /limited calories. Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, Calf. Natural, Balanced Diet, Zignature, etc. in flavors of beef, fish, duck, turkey, venison, etc. I'm now trying store bought raw that they ate two 3# bags and don't like it. I divide about a cup of ground chicken, fat rendered off, between the three dogs. Doc said maybe a chicken allergy. About a half dozen turkeys later, still some gas days. He had the Pit Sonogramed for internal problems, all ok. They were a bit overweight but are about right now. The Rottie needs to lose another 5#. The Shepard eats the same diet and has no gas problems. The Vet said he thinks I about covered the food allergy question. I should hope so. It's hard to figure out being they don't have problems at the same time and only about every two weeks. They won't eat anything for about a day until it passes, then back to normal. They don't gulp their food and drink enough water. The weather has cooled down some so I took them out yesterday and intend to keep at it. The Rottie has Valley Fever and gets short of breath so we have to take it slow. It's still better than no exercise at all..
Anyway, I'm going to step up the exercise and I thank all you folks for your suggestions.

Any fatty food is risky if fed to dogs. Some dogs are more sensitive to it then others. High fat in a dogs diet can cause a disease called pancreatitis. Many owners trim the fat off of their meat and toss it to their canine buddy. They love it, but its not good for them either!

Royal Canin makes a kidney food for cats that has pork. Sputnik does love her pig bits!

Smithfield was bought out by a Chinese company. I read used to be 40% of their pork was exported, now its 60%, has to effect our pork prices and availiability.

Our greyhound had eye watering gas; but he had no problems (no digestive upset or excrement changes) consuming an entire tub of margarine that was on the coffee table. Like people, some dogs can have unique digestive issues (i.e. food allergies) while others have cast iron digestive systems. I just chalk it up to genetics and as breeds become more inbred we will see more individual dogs with these issues.

Every boxer I've ever had had room clearing gas if on a high protein/high fat kibble. If I feed a moderate protein/fat kibble (ex: 25% protein, 15% fat), then the dogs don't have the gas problem. What has worked for all my boxers is Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream (no other variety).

I've also started adding Mercola Digestive Enzymes to my current boxer's kibble - amazing stuff (recommended on a boxer forum I'm a member of)! I got mine at Vitamin Shoppe (also available online). It's a powder that you simply sprinkle over the top of the food.

There are too many Jewish dogs!:B Really though I think it's because of the cost of pork.

I'm thinking your problem might be soy products, corn, etc in the dog food you are using.

What are you feeding and what are the ingredients? The choice of meat used, baring some of the new exotics they are putting in dog food, rarely is the culprit for excess gas in a sensitive dog. Different grains yes.

And THIS is exactly why when I was a kid my mother cooked and cooked pork chops until they where totally crisped burnt. So bad that if you dropped one on the floor it would shatter!

I didn't know a pork chop could taste good until I was over 30 when I was served a nice 'juicy' 2 inch pork shop in a restaurant!!:B
