Just a little warning...
When you let your dog run with sticks, train them to run with the sticks across the mouth rather than sticking out the front like a cigar. I had a few cases where the stick got impaled in the jaw or soft palate when the dog stumbled or ran into something.

Had that happen once - fortunately not at speed and no injury happened, but now I will make them immediately drop it if they don't pick it up crossways.
The one dog I owned who DID get impaled, was skewered by a 10" dried weed stem that entered his foot between the toes and ran just under the skin right up the front of his leg. He was just galloping through a nice grassy field. Yep - emergency trip to the Vet for THAT one
