Even when campground (or motel... the few times we've had to use a motel) wifi is available, we never use it. We use our SmartPhone's hot spot for everything. We also have an unlimited data plan. Now granted, it's "unlimited", but after so much usage, I understand it slows down? But not cut off. Still, we've used our phone's hot spot extensively, and have never come close to reaching that switch-over point.
Maybe we are just a little more cautious, but my wife and I both have the ability to work-from-home, and both our job require a secured wifi. So our phones are the way we do it.
