The article above mentions a ZTE Mobley device which plugs into the OBD-II ports on most all newer cars/RVs. I would imagine that device could be shared between cars.
The limitation of that device is that it only works when the key is turned in the ignition and isn't suitable for use when not driving since it can't recharge. So I use a regular AT&T hotspot with our WiFi extender so it can be used when sitting still.
