Has anyone found one weather app to be more accurate than others?Right now I'm watching weather.com and weatherbug on my phone, and they definitely don't have the same forecasts. It's hard to say which is more accurate so far. Weatherbug seems to be more accurate as far as the current temperature, but weather.com seems to have more accurate forecasts. Anyway, there's probably not one winner, but I'm interested to hear what you've found.

There are about several (six?) common weather models in use by various firms/agencies/etc world wide today. I know that the Weather Channel and NOAA use a different model. Each and every one gives (at least) slightly different results then the others. All of them are reasonably accurate in the short term, up to say 36 hours. The model with a great "long range" reputation right now is the one done by the EU(Europe) weather people. It nailed the predictions of Sandy days before any model used by firms in the US did. I am unaware of any North American weather firm/agency that uses the European model.Personally the model I have found to be the best for me is the one NOAA uses, this is because they give the forecast for where you are, not the nearest reporting station. Locally the Weather Channel can predict highs (at the airport) that are as much as 10 degrees warmer, or colder, depending on what is happening (the airport is miles inland, I'm looking at seawater).Given that, have you tried NOAA-Weather Free (for Android)

While i'm at home, i use an app for a local tv station

I own a landscape service and this time of year we are doing snow removal. I watch the weather like a hawk...the nationals and the locals, and while no one is perfect, I like Accuweather.com the best. And there is an Accuweather app. Give it a shot.Mike

I use accuweather pro and NOAA.GOV. I combined the both of them and get my own forecast.

To all the posters asking why does it matter? I'm not concerned about +/- 1 degree. But in the past while camping I have relied on a weather app to make decisions about moving or staying put, and the forecasts for the next 1-3 days turned out to be quite wrong. Same goes for making route adjustments on a long trip, such as the IL to AZ one we are headed out on soon.

Just as RK911 noted, I have seen very good accuracy from our Chicago TV station forecasters over the past few years. I would think the same accuracy is available nationwide on an app. But maybe not.

For forecasts I find Weather.com quite accurate. I primarily use the iPhone & iPad app. For weather radar, I have found Radarscope to be the most accurate and as close to real time as any other, with 5 min updates.

Despite efforts by the various commercial forecasting companies - NOAA continues to publish an active list of the companies which have active agreement for data links for NOAA data and forecasting information
