Aiming a SWM3 with Genie.

Got Genie earlier this week and the installer tweeked my tripod and got it going. Wind blew it over today (a first in years) and now I realize I don't know how to aim this sucker. I used a SL3 and was excellent at it and thought the SWM would be the same. On the Sig Strength screen I used to aim on the 101. I can't get anything. Yet when I switch it to the "SWM" setting I get 90's on all tuners.

Do I aim on the 101 or SWM? Thanks.

BTW: the beeps are back with the SWM!!! That is great.
  • I use a baby monitor to view the signal strength screen while aiming, after setting my tripod. Baby monitors are cheap and work great for a single person setup.
  • Wow Im glad the beeps are back with the SWM. I now a Genie also at home, but am still using a "non-HD" dish and HD-DVR when camping. No beeps. It certainly takes 2 aiming this setup.
  • Your SWM3 should aim even easier than the SL3 since the LNB is dead center (from side to side) in the elliptical dish. Just set the elevation and skew and point it at the 101 satellite. If you're not getting any signal I would wonder if a cable came apart when it tipped over.
