There are two or three possible issues here.

1: Your computer is infected and the manuals are becomming infected by your computer as they download.

2: your A/V software is, shall we say, overly paranoid.

3: the host, is infected and the files Really are suspect. But I doubt that.

If the OP provides a link, I will be happy to download and test them. He can PM me if he doesn't want to post them.

I suspect you already have some form of malware on your computer. Any time you try to download something it pop's up.

Get some good virus and malware tools and start scanning.

MS Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are what I use.

Since you mention manuals, I ran upon a site that required "free" registration after you provide your CC information (for future purchases). I will not name the site as it turns out there are duplicate sites with different names. It all appears to be a scam without the manuals shown and small charges were made. I would not be at all surprised if anything I had actually tried to download would have been bad as well. My CC company took care of the charges but it leaves you feeling a bit stupid.

Years ago I downloaded what I thought was a pdf file, a manual for something or other. I saved the file to my hard drive and after I clicked on the pdf file to open it, a trojan took over my computer and my security software was shut down.

Thus I learned, even though it appears to be a pdf file, it can be an executable and it can do much damage to your system.

BTW, the security software that didn't detect this intrusion and let itself be shut down was Microsoft Security Essentials.

Does it actually say it's a virus, or does it warn that it could be a virus? I'll go with wa8yxm's #2.
