An easy way to have your RV info at hand at all times.

I'm using Gmail, I don't know if others have the same feature.

In your Gmail contacts, over on the right side when you open one up is a huge "storage" area. It's not labeled, is just sits there, so you may have just ignored it.

I made a contact named FLEETWOOD MH 39S EXCURSION

This is the beginning of what's in the storage area:

Fleetwood
FIN: 779S54490466
VIN: 4UZAAHDC14CN96594 - Built March 2004
Freightliner will want the last 6 #s - N96594

Cat did not spec a belt for this engine because they don't know what accessories the chassis mfg might have installed. They probably have a cross belt to the Freightliner one though.

Go to WIXFILTERS.COM for filter cross references
Note on filters - Cat will not tell you what their micron rating is. They don't want you cross referencing them.....

The stored info literally goes on for pages and pages of info on info and part numbers for the windshield wipers, water pump, water filters, hub seals, batteries to include dates installed, make and model of the Xantrex invertor / charger, etc, etc, etc.

You can store anything and everything in there and the best part is you usually aren't far from your cell phone.

You can do the same thing for everything. I have a contact labeled TRAILERS which has the make, model, year, and license plate numbers for all of my trailers - dump trailer, snowmachine trailer, 2whl trailer, 4whl trailer and so on. The Nash TT gets it's own separate listing so it has all of the P/Ns and info like the MH does.

There's no reason to not have the info on hand.

  • My 30GB of important data is in a single folder with sub folders. One 3 GB sub folder is for the current PC.

All of this data is backed up periodically using FreeFileSync which is an excellent and fast differential backup program.

I don't want to be dependent on the internet for my data, to slow and not always available.
  • Took me a bit to figure this out. I had to use Snag-It to make a JPG of screen print. Sometime I'll figure out how to post a screen print. The Add A Note title goes away when you type something in there.

  • Hmm. I must have my gmail set up differently. Or else I'm just dumb. I don't see that space you refer to, either on my phone or on my desktop versions of gmail.

However, I keep a copy of all my RV stuff in Dropbox -- always available. Different solution to same issue.
  • I have nearly the same thing however, I put the RV info on a sticky note in my smartphone.....always handy.

Thanks for sharing the gmail tip!
