I also have Firefox, but I've had to use IE occasionally when the site won't work with Firefox. I also use duckduckgo as a search engine since it doesn't report back like Google. (Netflix comes to mind as a program that won't work with one, but will with others.)
For security, I have SuperAntiSpyware, Avast Software, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, all free from CNet. All of these are working in a Windows 8.1 environment.
