I never ran antivirus on any of our Androids.

Just be somewhat careful about what you get from Google Play.
Try not to go app crazy...it's hard I know.
Just watch app reviews and recommends from those who have gone before.

Also if you really want to dive in join XDA developers and find your phone for inside info.

No your good it's not like a computer.

I use AVAST Mobile Security. It is a free version. There are several free security apps.
