I know this is like asking which is better a Chevy or Ford. But my android phone is on its last legs. I have had android phones since the beginning and they have served me well. But my kids think I should change to an apple phone. I will admit I do like the facetime feature. But I don't think that by itself justifies switching. I don't stream movies. Photo capability is nice but I have been able to work with what I have. I live in a fringe area so strength of signal is important. So my question is, for those of you who have had both, what are pros and cons for switching from android to apple.

When my iPhone was on its last legs my son convinced me to go with an android phone. While it is ok, I found the operating system to be a bit quirky in that it sometimes just didn’t do what it was supposed to do. It is hard to describe, but it just doesn’t work as expected all the time.Not so with iOS. I never had a problem with the iphone other than it was very old, and have never had a problem with my iPad. It always works exactly as expected.The downside is you can’t add memory, and apps are sometimes more limited. When my quirky android gives up the ghost, I’m definitely going back to an iPhone.

My vote is for Apple. Having had both systems, we find the IOS on IPhones to be much more user friendly and intuitive than the Android platform. Same with the Windows computers—can’t believe we resisted Apple for so long!

There is a like app (or several) for android but since I do not like that feature... I can't tell you what they are.I'm anti-apple due to stuff that happened a long time ago which I won't go into here as well.. it's not an RV issue.But I have heard that applie I-phones .. if you use the wi-fi mobile hotspot feature to connect devices to the internet via the i-phone.. May give you headaches. (Actually I know what they are and how to get around 'em)No such issues with my Samsung Galaxy S7

This is really easier than most people what to believe. Do you know what apps you want? Go to both AppStore and Play.Google and find them all. If they don't all exist in both, there is your choice. As an engineering professional for a lot of my life, I have run just about everything at one time or another. Some are better than others. I have found that I can become adapted to what ever I have. I have also grow to hate things that are proprietary. But that is my own bug. Matt

I've had both. Each have their pros and cons. In my opinion, Apple is a little easier if you're technology challenged. Android I prefer for a few reasons. First, there are a ton of brand new phones using the Android system that are really good phones and are a lot cheaper than an iphone. Second, you don't have to use itunes. I can plug my phone into my computer, navigate any folder, transfer pictures, videos, music either direction just like I can on my windows computer. I don't need itunes or a third party program to do any of that. Third, I can add any size Micro SD card to an android phone thereby increasing it's storage capacity. You can't do that with an iphone. You have to buy one that already has a lot of storage and that costs a lot more money if you need the storage space. Fourth, although you get to use the icloud, you only get a certain amount of free space and it fills up fast and then Apple wants more money for more storage space. Google Photos is free with unlimited space. I suppose you can do that with an iphone too but I haven't looked into that. Pretty much the icloud gets shoved down your throat so that's what everyone with an iphone uses. You mentioned using facetime. Androids use Google Duo. It's the same thing and works great. In the end, it's all about how comfortable you are with the operating systems and how much money you want to spend on a phone. I don't like throwing money away needlessly so I bought a brand new phone that's unlocked and usable on any network on the Android system and paid $200. Try buying a new iphone for $200. You Can't!

If you are looking for an obd2 scanner, I would suggest you check Innova Scanners. Most of its scann tools are compatible with all vehicles manufactured from 1996 and newer. SO you will never go wrong with this one.

The bottom line is all of them work. If you go Android your Apple friends can install Google Duo on their iPhones which is Googles answer to FaceTime.

While true it's not too bad. I've replaced a couple in iPhones and can tell you the hardest part is dealing with the tiny screws that holds the battery down ! The batteries come with all the tools including the screwdriver which looks like a tiny Torx head driver. First thing you need to do is put the driver on a magnet and magnitize it. If you drop one of those tiny screws you'll probably never find it. Tons of YouTube videos on how to do it.

They all basically come apart the same way. I even replaced the battery in my Samsung tablet which was basically the same process as the iPhone only bigger. If you're handy don't be afraid to do it.

I was thinking maybe they did to you what they did to me. I had 90 gigs of music in VLC. I thought I would copy it into Itunes to see if I liked it. As soon as it was done copying the music, it went over and deleted all the music in VLC. I had detached the original drive so I lucked out there they couldn't get to it. I admit a lot of the music was torrent'ed, but still, it left a sour taste in my mouth. Once you put your music in Itunes you can't get it out, but I suppose it's a moot point with modern streaming services.

Both my phone and tablet are android. Previously, my tablet was an iPad. Unfortunately, it was stolen last year together with my vehicle. While I like my android phone (Samsung Galaxy J3, and find the android tablet to be OK, I do prefer the iPad and iOS system. Trouble with Apple products, is I think they're just too expensive.(my original iPad had cost me about $500, years ago). The android tablet (RCA Viking Pro) was only about $80, compared to the hundreds an iPad would have cost. That being said, I still feel the Apple product was better, for reasons I won't get into here. If my RCA tablet becomes defective, I'd probably opt for the iPad again, regardless of the exrra cost.
