Android vs Apple

For the older generation which many of us qualify I would recommend the Iphone.

It has one feature I think is very valuable for the older crowd that allows their children to keep track of them.

That feature is find my phone.

Recently I had a good friend that was involved in a serious traffic accident in a remote section of Nevada.
With the find my phone application his son was able to determine were his father was right down to which building he was in which proved to be a hospital in a small town in Nevada.

Itunes and memory are the reasons NOT to buy an Apple product. I can connect my Android directly to my computer without going through a huge Itunes program.
I can also add a large memory chip to my phone to gain all the added memory I may need. You cannot add memory to an Iphone.

Apple. It simply works.

I've had both. Each have their pros and cons. In my opinion, Apple is a little easier if you're technology challenged. Android I prefer for a few reasons. First, there are a ton of brand new phones using the Android system that are really good phones and are a lot cheaper than an iphone. Second, you don't have to use itunes. I can plug my phone into my computer, navigate any folder, transfer pictures, videos, music either direction just like I can on my windows computer. I don't need itunes or a third party program to do any of that. Third, I can add any size Micro SD card to an android phone thereby increasing it's storage capacity. You can't do that with an iphone. You have to buy one that already has a lot of storage and that costs a lot more money if you need the storage space. Fourth, although you get to use the icloud, you only get a certain amount of free space and it fills up fast and then Apple wants more money for more storage space. Google Photos is free with unlimited space. I suppose you can do that with an iphone too but I haven't looked into that. Pretty much the icloud gets shoved down your throat so that's what everyone with an iphone uses. You mentioned using facetime. Androids use Google Duo. It's the same thing and works great. In the end, it's all about how comfortable you are with the operating systems and how much money you want to spend on a phone. I don't like throwing money away needlessly so I bought a brand new phone that's unlocked and usable on any network on the Android system and paid $200. Try buying a new iphone for $200. You Can't!

This is really easier than most people what to believe.
Do you know what apps you want?
Go to both AppStore and Play.Google and find them all.
If they don't all exist in both, there is your choice.

As an engineering professional for a lot of my life, I have run just about everything at one time or another. Some are better than others. I have found that I can become adapted to what ever I have.

I have also grow to hate things that are proprietary. But that is my own bug.

There is a like app (or several) for android but since I do not like that feature... I can't tell you what they are.

I'm anti-apple due to stuff that happened a long time ago which I won't go into here as well.. it's not an RV issue.
But I have heard that applie I-phones .. if you use the wi-fi mobile hotspot feature to connect devices to the internet via the i-phone.. May give you headaches. (Actually I know what they are and how to get around 'em)

No such issues with my Samsung Galaxy S7

My vote is for Apple. Having had both systems, we find the IOS on IPhones to be much more user friendly and intuitive than the Android platform. Same with the Windows computers—can’t believe we resisted Apple for so long!

When my iPhone was on its last legs my son convinced me to go with an android phone. While it is ok, I found the operating system to be a bit quirky in that it sometimes just didn’t do what it was supposed to do. It is hard to describe, but it just doesn’t work as expected all the time.

Not so with iOS. I never had a problem with the iphone other than it was very old, and have never had a problem with my iPad. It always works exactly as expected.

The downside is you can’t add memory, and apps are sometimes more limited. When my quirky android gives up the ghost, I’m definitely going back to an iPhone.
