Another Satellite TV ?

We have Direct tv hd at our home base space with the H-24 boxes. I'm getting sick and tired using the 18"oval 3LMB dish and tripod which will only receive SD programming. I would like a ( carry out automatic ) type. I understand it will ONLY get SD signal and thats OK. I just want something automatic. Any suggestions would be helpful.

National Broadcast TV Network transmitted from the local towns using the OTA Batwing antenna is full blown high def TV signals and is FREE to the public.

Here on the East and South part of the USA we get 6-or more HDTV channels just about everywhere we go.

Started leaving my SAT RCVR stuff at home when the local stations went digital. All we like to watch is NCIS and CSI anyway haha...

well, you'll have yet another NCIS show to watch in the fall...NCIC New Orleans has been picked up by CBS. and if you had satellite or cable you'd be able to get USA and TNT, home of mucho many NCIS and CSI re-runs.
  • SINCE you can't GET any of the CABLE channels via OTA that part of the DISCUSSION just confuses things.
He's already got satellite and just wants to USE IT. Since you mention a carryout unit, you can get one of the new Carryout G2 units from Winegard. They run a bit over $600 but they are very small (about 14" tall and wide) and easy to setup and store. They come out of the box setup for DirecTV so it's just a matter of setting the receiver to the correct setting and plugging everything in. It comes with 50' of coax and power cable and you will use the same exterior connection for this that you use with your tripod setup.

  • I guess you're sick of the setting up, not the SD.

    Automatic ones will cost ya.
  • Get a traveler if you want automatic and hd. Or get the proper tools to allow you a quick setup of your current antenna
