The issue no longer has anything to do with voice calls - each of the 4 providers pretty much have that sorted and there isn't a lot between them.
The issue is the data coverage that they offer, and the speeds they offer when you get coverage.
If all you do is check the occasional email, look up a campground or do a bit of eBanking then it's not an issue. 3G/4G/LTE doesn't make much of a difference to you because you don't need a fast, reliable connection.
However quite a few of us work from the RV and at that point speed and reliability does matter. I spend anything from a couple of hours a day, to 12-14 hours in a day working online. Without good, fast internet I would have to be back in the office rather then sitting in a great RV park in a new area that I can explore.
Of course, it's easy to get to enjoy the faster speeds from AT&T LTE (up to 20mbps) and honestly we don't really NEED it to be THAT fast - but it is nice LOL
I chose the Sprint Tri-Fi device because I get up to 50GB of data and can switch easily between 3G, 4G, WiMax and LTE but I also have an AT&T backup and an iPhone on T-Mobile just so that I can cover the bases.
I long for the day when either Sprint can catch up with ATT/VZ on LTE or ATT/VZ roll out unlimited or at least sizeable limits at an affordable price!
