One of the reasons Apple products have the good reputation they have for working well together and for being more durable than most others is that they keep a tight rein on details like chargers and cables and apps. It's the price you pay for the platform.
Take the cables-that-don't-work back whence you got them for a refund and spring the extra couple bucks for Apple cables.
Oh, and for what it is worth, it is not so much a function of iOS 7, as I am using iOS 8.4 and I have some non-apple cables and adapters that work fine. I think that your problem is either with the iPhone 6 or more likely with the cables being bad themselves.
