Anyone else mad about Apple....

My wife bought a couple of long charger cables for her Iphone 6plus and Ipad. We used the factory charger bricks and plugged them in. Guess what, no charge. Started to look into the problem via the internet and found out that as of Ios 7, Apple blocked the use of non-apple/non-"certified" Apple charger cables with their devices. Evidently they have to be paid a fee by aftermarket suppliers before they will work. Outrageous. What was wrong with the mini-usb used by most other cellphone manufacturers? Anyone found a way around this?

itunes is a good example as are their "special" charging cables.
This pretty much sums it up. If you want anything in the way of accessories Apple does their best to steer you to them, not away from them. Makes it kinda tough when your traveling and need a quick fix.
