Whoa there, I use a bunch that are not available on Ios, here are just a few:


Car Home Ultra
Torque
FreeCaddie Pro
Polaris Office 5

Can't run them on ios. Also, as pointed out, NO back button, Ipads don't come with GPS unless cellular ready, Iphone GPS won't work with Google Maps without WiFi connected, must have a stupid "Air Print" printer to print IF you can find the right App.

Those are apps, and they are pretty nice. I was referring to the actual Android devices. But there are some that are really nice. I have yet to NOT find an app that fits a need for me.

Dark Sky is the best minute weather forecasting app available period. Its not available on Android. Not trying to get in a peeing contest but just pointing out that it goes both ways on platform app availability.

My google maps works great on my phones GPS via Mobile data, no wifi required there.

I don't have the torque app but I do have a fantastic DashCommand app. Works great!

Printing via my iPhone was a snap to set up. Funny thing, on my Chromebook I set up Google Cloud Print.. and it automagically works withing my Google Apps too.

I have a back button on my iPhone every time I need it. Not sure I follow there. I do know that Android has a physical back button... iOS was designed in such a way that its there when you need it. If you don't need it, its not there. If I need out of an App, I just hit the home button.. no back button needed. Simple.

Anyway, they are both great platforms and I am glad there is a choice... I really believe that they both push each other to make better devices and software. That's a great thing.

Ok, I give up. I was just complaining about the crappy charge cables originally, and that's not Apples fault. I sure don't want to start a war here. I catch grief from my wife and other family members about not liking Apple products. To each his own....peace.

I've noticed that the older iPads with the newer iOS tend to reboot once in a while.

Apple is pretty famous for changing their connectors around on a regular basis. They probably have upwards of around 50 different display ports on just their laptops alone over the years. Probably around another 20 on the desktops.

Even though just about every laptop since the first Powerbook has basically used the same voltage, the adaptors have varied greatly. Even now, they have 3-4 different power adaptors for their laptops.

That is probably my only complaint about Apple's designs over the years. Sure there were some other bad designs, but usually something better was also being sold.


So Apple announced yesterday:

New iPad - Large screen, faster processor. Probably more of a MacBook Air replacement than anything.

New iPhone - Hardware wise, the camera got a big upgrade.

Apple Watch - Not sure who buys these, but I know I'd destroy or lose it in about a week.

AppleTV - TV OS, similar to iOS, it can have apps. I've been saying this is what it should have been years ago when it was a "hobby device"

Apple Pen - Good grief, use with the iPads and iPhones. At $99 I don't see it as a big seller outside of certain cliques like artist, rich, and fan-boys.

A few errors here. No back button? I'm not really sure what referring to, but if your referring to the browser yes there is.

Yes Google maps works without wifi.

I was printing to my printer that wasn't AirPrint compatible. There is an app for that. :)
Now my printer is compatible with iOS and Android.

As far as the other apps, there are plenty of alternatives that do the same thing. Do you really think there isn't a Golf GPS or an OBD app on the app store?

No cell service or wifi required for iPhone GPS. Co-Pilot is great.

I haven't tried using my iPad for gps because it doesn't have cellular, but I would question how an android device would work as a gps without cellular as well.

Not true on the iPhone gps not working if wifi turned off. Mine does.

My iPad and iPhone both work with my hp printer with no problem. No app needed. Yeah, it's a wireless printer, but isn't that the norm?

I used to be that guy who was always fiddling with computers, downloading the latest Linux distributions, fiddling more than using...then I found iOS in my first iPod Touch...I haven't really looked back since then.

These things just work... I didn't have to fiddle much if any to get the device to do what I wanted it to do. Now I just pay a little bit upfront for innovation and durability and get years of use out of our devices.

I have an iPhone 5 still...no real intention to move to an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus... No need... I just installed a new battery and it's great.

Typing this message on a first gen iPad Mini which works Perfect. I have had it for a long long time...It streams music over wifi all workday...everyday...along with being my go to device for Google Docs for speeches and that sort of thing.

I use Griffin chargers for my iPad Mini and IPhones... They seem to be much more durable than the Apple originals. pricy though

I am also a fan of Chrome OS, and we have two Chromebooks in the house that can do some heavier tasks such as intensive typing and that sort of thing.... But for my day to day mobile experience... The iPad mini is with me everywhere I go.

Oh, Pebble smart watch is on my wrist 24/7... It integrates well into my iOS lifestyle... It tracks my fitness goals, sleep, weather, notifications, as well as being a dang good watch. No fancy apple watch for me. That's probably a different discussion though.

I just get iPhone 6 cables off eBay. Never had an issue. The iPhone 6 doen't use chipped cords as far as I know. Never had an issue using aftermarket stuff.
