Sorry, just trying to get your attention.Do you get the annoying delayed typing, the little circle that rotates forever (indicating windows is still trying to initialize something), the move your mouse, but the arrow waits for a split second to move, the jumping around of text as ads slowlyslowly initialize. etc.My windows 8.1 is driving me crazy and I am almost ready to trash the two year old windows pc and spend $1000 to get an apple. But will it do the same **@# thing?

You could try a Linux distribution without installing it- http://www.pendrivelinux.com/put-lubuntu-on-a-flash-drive-using-windows/- Lubuntu would be fastest, not really fair, as it is meant for older computers, and leaves out a lot of the eye candy that slows down the box, but it should be familiar to anyone used to XP, and quite a bit faster.

No, a MAC would perform much better. Just be aware that it'll have a learning curve for long-time Windows users.We are on our second MacBook. First one from 2007 is still in use and still operates better than most Windows machines. Not bad for 8 years old.

Use Adblock. This problem has nothing to do with Windows - it's slow-loading advertizing. Even iThings will have the same problem.

I have a windows 7 based desk top I use up in my den, but also have a Macbook Air laptop that I use for travelling and schoolwork. Hands down the Mac is a better machine. Starts up in under 30 seconds and no delays like on my PC. My next desktop will be a Mac.

Oh, I forgot.I'll be in Texas this winter. If you really want to get rid of your two year old notebook, I will take it off your hands - for a small fee of course.

What do you use on the computer? Ubuntu or ChromeOS on a $50 SSD will be very quick to boot and run for Web browsing and cloud document editing. Mac may be quicker and "better" than Windows so if you can afford a whole new syystem - great! PM me if you want to sell your current hardware. :)

X1000 Adblock makes a huge difference. Adblock is showing it blocked 2 ads on this site.
