Get a Chromebook if you don't have to do a lot of heavy stuff. They are faster than any pc or Apple on startup and run on apps which practically eliminates all virus problems. They are really inexpensive and so easy to use. JMHO.
I second this big time.
My family is a Mac/Chrome OS family. I have a fantastic Toshiba Full HD 1080P Chromebook 2 with 4gb of ram and an Intel processor. My oldest sun uses a Samsung Chromebook with an ARM processor and 2 gb of ram.
I am a heavy user... I run Windows 7 on my Chromebook through VPN at my work (Virtual Desktop).. I have migrated all my documents and pictures to the cloud.
The Mac is fantastic, even though its a 2011 model MBP with 8GB of ram. My wife uses the Mac to run her Cricut.
We have a wireless printer that any of the Chromebooks or the Macbook can print too. Talk about a nice feature.
I am still an iPhone user... have tried Android and I just don't like them very much. So, as a result I have subscriptions to two cloud services.
iCloud and Google Drive.
I pay about .99 for 20 gb of iCloud per month.. I do that so that my three iOS devices (Personal cell, work cell, and ipad) are backed up on the cloud. I went swimming accidently once in the ocean and learned a hard lesson about how valuable automatic backups are on iCloud (on charge, connected to wifi)
Right now I have about 115 gb of data on Google Drive. I don't pay anything for this now as I have 100 free gb for two years for purchasing my Toshiba.
I will probably continue with the 100 gb plan after my two years is up. That is only 1.99 per month and is pretty cheap insurance.
My next purchase will probably be an Intel i3 or i5 Chromebox (desktop) with 8-16 gb of ram. And I will probably run two 27 inch 1080p HD monitors.
The only thing I can't do with my Chromebooks so far is rip a CD. Thats not a big deal to me as I haven't ripped a CD in years. Most of my purchases are digital now, TV, Movies, Music. It all lives on the cloud or as a download on one of my devices.
Thanks!
