Landlines are a thing of the past. Even most office phones have switched to IP. Our phone travels with us and we keep our same number using skype. Even works internationally.
If she prefers a retro-handset, look online and you should be able to find one.
If your phone is compatible with the current cell system, you should be able to move the sim but you also need to associate it with the phone. This assumes you own it outright and it's unlocked (which an old phone usually is)
