You are making assumptions about something that you have not experienced. It shouldn't be any different, in fact I would expect it to be easier for an existing customer. But my actual experience is it is different being an existing customer, and it is not easier. As their e-commerce customer care person explained to me, their ordering system has a kink in it and I got hung up on it (I had not added device in X amount of time) and my order was automatically canceled. He said I need to go to a store - which is a ferry ride and a taxi away, so that isn't going to happen.

There are others in the other forum which have att and the stand-alone mobley plan so it is definitely possible.
