This is EXACTLY what happened to me with AT&T and I can't get to a store either. Seems really odd that they are forcing their customers to go to Best Buy.

If you are a NEW customer it may be (but I could be wrong) because of the "Patriot Act". The US government want to know who has
cell phone service.
