Ok, this may be answered somewhere here, I don't know. Just exactly how is everyone getting ATT to change the download amount to unlimited for the same paltry $20. fee? This is the second post I've seen on this item but both Best Buy here where I am know nothing about the unit and ATT knows nothing about any thing (reminds me of Sgt. Shultz). To me it seems that anybody that purchases this unit is at the whim of anybody at ATT to either start it or stop it at any time. Is there anything anywhere that says they have to give you the unlimited plan for $20 a month?
Reader's Digest Condensed Version (of link)
Checked Best Buy on line.
Local store indicated they had three.
Went to store - young sales guy not really up to speed on Mobley, but he knew what it is (had one on display).
Purchased outright (Drat - not on sale) about $100.
Sales guy seemed to think I had to go to an AT&T store to get it set up. (BB might be able to do it on a contract, didn't ask)
Went to AT&T store the next day.
Rep there had never heard of it.....figure I was off to a bad start!
However, sailed right thru the set-up process in about 10 min.
He found the $20. a month plan, said there was a one time $25. set-up fee. (OK by me)
Went out plugged it into the OBD port of the vehicle I was driving - up and running.
BTW - AT&T guy said, "this is a really good deal" - and *he* wanted one after finding the plan on his tablet in the store.!
Link to long(er) version of same -
"No grief" Mobley purchase & plan sign-up
Do "they" have to give you the plan? ("give"??)
Beats the heck out of me - but would think if it's offered by AT&T, why wouldn't "they" make it available?
AT&T provides OnStar WiFi service to/for GM vehicles (for a fee).
Now -*ANY*- 1996 or newer brand (with OBDII) can purchase the same service.
Of course "we" can't control what "they" do, now or down the road!.:S
