I have not stopped trying but it is getting old with the folks I have talked to.
Got mine online for $99 and I pay $20/mo (plus taxes) for the service. It also works just fine in my Jeep and my Sprinter, plugged into USB or plugged into a 110v USB adapter, so I'm thinking you're being fed a line of BS.
