I am not an AT&T customer (except now for the Mobley) and I didn't call AT&T customer service or go to Best Buy. I ordered my Mobley online from AT&T along with the $20/month unlimited plan. It arrived activated, I plugged it in, and it works.
It's funny how "what comes around goes around". Years ago I was an AT&T cell phone customer and Verizon came out with a MiFi hotspot device so I bought one. In time I changed my cell phone over to Verizon and later added an Ipad which I used for my hotspot and deleted the MiFi. Now here I am with Verizon cell phones and an AT&T hotspot device. It's all good.
