- wanderingaimlesExplorerWhat sucks is that even with this going on, ATT still limits even it's premium packages on phone use to 15 gig a month of tethering or hotspot usage. So there is no real reason to even use the phone services when for $30 a month less, Verizon doesn't limit hotspot or tethering.

Could you point us to info on that plan?
Everything I can find on the Verizon site indicates that there is throttling when you exceed a certain data limit.
The cheap one gave unlimited data @ 600kbps.
The most expensive one gave unlimited/unthrottled data until you hit 22gb. - jorbill2orExplorer II

Also they are now going to offer streaming boxes and might dump the satellite dishes/equipment and forcing new customers to go streaming with AT&T.
The cost to pay the installers and the satellite equipment is becoming to costly.

Bye Bye Sat TV..... 18 Months and Counting... :B
You Keep touting streaming Sir (or madam, one never knows what person or impersonator is behind the keyboard) We get it .. you love streaming!
The streaming division, Direct Now is what's failing along with it's hard wired cable division .Direct tried to switch Sat customers to streaming and its failing after price increases and lousy interface. I will agree ATT is a joke at running its business. I get free HBO on direct Now (streaming) with my unlimited att cell service and it sucks .. depending on where i am. Most Rvers don't have great internet access Unless your in a mobile home park in a city.... permanently
Dish is still doing ok and IF directv Sat does fail (not likely soon) Or att dumps the business , and the Billions in Satellites (right ?! ) They will Pick up the pieces. in a combined service.
I have my Timer set and Direct and Dish both only have a few months left according to you. Hope your still around to revise your projections. Many I'm sure will remind you :) - K_CharlesExplorerDish quit showing our local NBC. The TV station lowered the power of there broadcast so we can't get it on antenna any more. I went to AT T yesterday and they said they can't put satellite in the MH. They tell me I need a screeming box to get TV from them. I don have cell service at home so I ask for the manager and he says he has directv at his camp but you can't go far from home with it. My wife just subscribed to the local paper.

DirecTV & Dish are not going away. Satellite TV is the only TV service available for millions and millions of North Americans.
Correct. Especially when the cost of internet to rural America is slow and expensive. - DFordExplorerI wonder why AT&T/Direct are in the process of upgrading their offerings for satellite TV to only HD transmission when you're saying they're getting out of the business?
Their Asian customer support agents are driving users away in droves. They could reverse that trend easily by moving their call centers back to the U.S. and giving true customer support in a timely fashion. Dropping the interactive voice response systems that use robo responses to route your calls around would make them an overnight success.
I've tried several cell phone providers and they all suck. I hesitate to give AT&T a chance because I'm not going to put myself through the experience of calling their so called customer support line ever again.
Dish Network seems to have moved their call centers back to the U.S. and calling them for assistance is much more productive these days. - GordonThreeExplorerLosing CBS channels was a good blow
- edbehnkeExplorerSatellite TV isn't going anywhere.....don't lose any sleep over it, it will be be for years to come.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIIt bothers me not that DirecTV/AT&T are loosing customers
I mean pay big bucks every month for TV. NO way.. I get more than I can watch for 25/year and that's just for the TV Guide (The programming is free)
