I installed Windows 10 a while back. I was originally going to wait, but curiosity got the best of me. For a while, I liked it but then all of a sudden I couldn't exit tablet mode. I tried several things, like system restore, but nothing worked. After every boot-up, there would be the charms all over the screen. I couldn't access my important desktop icons, either. I never had any issues with 8.1, so I decided to revert back to that OS.Of course, I may try Win 10 again before a year is up and, hopefully any bugs will have been addressed. In the meantime, it's nice to back with 8.1.
I doubt if the problems you experienced were due to a bug in Win 10 that might get fixed within the next year. Millions of people have upgraded without issue.
More than likely, there is something not quite right about your Win 8.1 that causes the upgrade to go afoul. If you like Win 10, I would try installing again as a clean install (you will need to re-install all of your programs and will lose your data so make sure it's backed up). A clean install has always been the preferred method of installing a new version of Windows since in-place upgrades have always been iffy.
