Backup Camera????

We are working with a dealer right now on specking out a new 5th wheel.

It will be 40' long plus the truck is 22' long. We would like a backup camera system. RV will be hard wired to the front with an antenna to boost signal to the truck. Dealer is suggesting the Voyager Digital Wireless Observation System Model WVOS713 featuring WISight technology.

I'm not knowledgeable at all with backup cameras. So would appreciate your comments both on this system and other systems you might recommend.

Thanks for your help
  • I purchased my cameras from rearviewsafety.com. I have a 40ft fifth and the wireless didn't work very well, their customer service was great. They shipped me a separate antenna for free which helped but not enough, I purchased a high quality extension cable through amazon and now the antenna is by the front cap, problem solved. I also have side cameras which really help especially on freeway lane changes and backing up. They are mounted just in front of the propane doors and transmitters inside by the tanks. Great signal on those cameras.

  • C.B.,

I see you're from Appleton, WI. We're from West Bend, WI. We're in Elk City, OK right now at the dealer. When we finish here we will be on our way back to WI, about 1000 miles. We wintered in the RGV in TX and it's time to get back home and cut the grass. Hope the snow is all gone????

I just got a chance to see the WVOS713 in action on someone else's RV. He hasn't had it on much to make any adjustments. The quality of the picture was not too clear and we weren't sure how to tune it in.

I'm use to the picture quality being like a TV screen and HD on top of that. Is that too much to expect?
  • I have the Voyager WVOS5511 on my 40' Cedar Creek.

Glad to hear you are already going to hard wire from rear camera to front cap for the antenna.

After getting poor reception I moved my antenna to the front cap. Picture has not skipped a beat since.

Good luck with the Voyager. I really like mine.
