Battery in a cell phone

Looking at getting a different straight talk cell phone.

Walmart has one on sale and when I asked the sales person what the difference was between that one and another one she said you can't take the battery out of the Moto.

I've never had to take a battery out of any of my other cell phones so what would be the big deal of not being able to take it out?

tks, rock

  • One aspect of rebooting a stubborn smart phone is removing the battery. Most Android phones the battery can be removed. Apple no! You cannot remove the battery. At least not easily. Big deal? You have to decide. I like the option of replacing or installing a larger capacity battery if I want to.

Maybe it has another meaning to do with their chip installed to make MOTOROLA phones work on STRAIGHT TALK.

i.e. if you physically remove the battery it loses its STRAIGHT TALK settings????? Therefore you cannot remove the battery...

I've never seen a cell phone you could not physically remove the battery... Reading the other comments here apparently there is some cellphone models that have non-removable batteries... Don't think I would like that feature...

  • I guess it's a matter of having a disposable phone or not. I've got an older smart phone. It works perfect as long as I replace the battery every couple of years. Maybe the newer phones have "live forever" batteries. Battery technology has improved & people are replacing their phones more often these days. Don't know.
  • It's only a big deal if you're a "power user" ... I know some business types who use a phone 10+ hrs a day and don't have 30 minutes to leave it on a charger, so they carry two batteries and swap batteries half way through the day.

I guess the other advantage would be if your phone was accidentally submerged, being able to remove the battery aides in the recovery process.

Sealed in battery, not a big deal in my opinion. I own phones both sealed and removable, never had to do anything with the batteries in either.
