Best choice for aftermarkey TPMS?

I have a six wheel C and want to have installed TPMS. Guess the labor alone will set me back $150 or so just dismount and install the transmitters. So I want to buy a good system that will allow me to see the pressure on all six tires. What has been the best choice for this?

Thanks!

  • The tire stem mounted units will require installing metal valve stems if you current ones are rubber.

Some have used rubber with no problems. I tried that route but had two stems fail when I was on the road. The cost and loss of time that resulted was not worth saving a couple dollars in not going with the metal stems at the beginning.

I have used the Pressure Pro and now have the TST.

Not sure which is best but I agree any TPMS is better than nothing.

While I was using the Pressure Pro it saved three tires for me. Without the system I am sure the tires would have been destroyed and the one on the 5th wheel probably would have damaged my slide out.
  • Tiretraker here and it seems to work well. I don't think there is much if any difference in the brand as they all come from China. I would advise that you get metal valve stems as I am told that the rubber ones may flex and cause a leak.
  • I have the Tire Minder TM66 which I think is exclusive to Camping World. Very easy to set up, and has worked great for two trips. Has some nice features like being able to "turn off" the trailer when it is disconnected from the tow vehicle, and free batteries for life. Sensors screw right onto the valve stem .....

Had a cheap Securtire unit before and had lots of sensor failures.
  • I am very satisfied with TST. I have not had any other brand so there may be better ones but the customer service from TST is superb.
  • Been using Pressure Pro for 10 to 12 years, I've been very happy with the system. 14 tires on the current rig and it sure is nice to be able to read tire pressures from the cab, especially on a rainy morning. No need to dismount tires with valve stem mounted sensors.
  • There are many different brands available that are mounted on the tire air stem...no need to dismount the tire.

Your best bet is to do a search on TPMS...you'll find more info than you can read in a whole day. Not all that sure of which is the "best", but any of them is better than none at all.

    FWIW... I use pressure pro.
