Is this the "titanium bullet" you are referring to? http://www.amazon.com/BulletM2-Titanium-Ubiquiti-802-11n-Outdoor/dp/B008FITTKQ/ref=pd_cp_pc_2
And if so, could I use this 15dbi antenna with it? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004I5J2XY/ref=pe_160220_63098560_em_1p_3_ti
Just thinking that 15dbi would be better than only 8dbi, right?
Yes and yes. But 15db may not always be better. Very strong nearby signals could possibly overwhelm the receiver on the Bullet (a little like a close 50,000 watt AM broadcast station can make it hard to hear any other stations). I know the 8db works fine. I haven't tried a 15db antenna. I have used 30db parabolic WiFi antennas in point-to-point systems several times but they are special cases.
You might run into issues with the larger antenna and wind loading unless you support the antenna, too. Reports say that the 8db antenna is pretty much ok but I don't know about larger ones. Remember that the "N" connector is the only support.
The Engenious antenna comes with an aluminum mounting sleeve and two clamps that are supposed to handle both the Bullet and the antenna. However I discovered that they are a problem on my rig and have had to cut back the sleeve to allow the Bullet to connect directly to the antenna which makes weatherproofing that connection a problem. I just wrapped the entire sleeve with 3M "stretch" electrcial tape but that meant that the supplied clamps could not be used. Sigh. It's always something. So I have the antenna and Bullett clamped to the ladder with SS hose clamps.
