Cable TV not working, Antenna working

Hi,

I've used the cable connection successfully in my TT approx. three times in the past three seasons. At our first outing this year, the channel scan would run for 10-15 minutes, then only show really snowy images without audio on a single channel.

All connections were verified to be connected and the KOA worker verified there was a cable signal at the box.

Here's the six combinations I tried:

Television set to Antenna, TT antenna switch set to CABLE, ANT, or OFF. After a new channel scan, receives 5 local over-the-air stations.

Television set to Cable, TT antenna switch set to CABLE, ANT, or OFF. After a new channel scan, snowy, fuzzy image on a single channel.

Any diagnostic suggestions?
  • Check the coax connectors on both ends of the cable running to your TV. The "screw on" F type connectors are notorious for being bad. Also, check to make sure the connector screwed into that right angle adapter in the picture is screwed on good - showing a lot of threads!
  • Had a similar issue in Florida with Bright-House cable and the cable guy said to connect through the satellite input. Something to do with the frequency they use to transmit their signal. Did that and bingo - no problems. This also completely avoids the signal booster that can cause issues too - even when the 12V is turned off.
