This is a common misconception that is often repeated on this and other forums. If you are connected to a website using HTPS encryption, which is all bank and credit card companies as well as Gmail and lots of others, then the security of your connection is handled by the 128-bit encryption that is embedded in HTTPS protocol and NOT in your connection to the campground's wifi.
