Camping World Memorial Day "sale"

Today's Camping World email indicates a Memorial Day sale and shows the Garmin RV770 for $399, advertising this as $40 off the "regular" price of $439.

That device has never sold for $439 nor is that the MSRP. Garmin themselves sold that device in pre-sale for $399.

The ethics of this is disappointing.
  • It doesn't matter what Garmin sells it for (MSRP) or any other seller. It matters only if CW's regular price wasn't offered for the required length of time. Where they are "headquartered" also doesn't matter. If those requirements were not met and the sale was in California it's a violation. What is your state's position? Are you advocating that CW can't set its own price? But must sell at MSRP or at a discounter's price?
  • I can't remember the Generator brand name, but 25 year's ago every single Home Improvement store had this 4000 watt Gen for 399.00/499.99, CW always advertised it at 699.00(for year's I used this as a standard for my dis trust of "SALE" item's)....I learned very quickly about CW pricing! I will give Lemonis credit, he seems more responsive on some of these issues and combating what seems to me to be a Corporate greed mind set....all RV'ers are NOT stupid, we do check prices and maybe someone at CW should start doing the same!
  • "in California it's illegal to advertise an item is on sale unless it has been offered at "regular" price for a certain period"

That's why they are not headquartered in California!
  • Jeff, in California it's illegal to advertise an item is on sale unless it has been offered at "regular" price for a certain period. Does your state have such a statute? Have you reported this? Gee, are you certain of your facts....provable? Or are you just ranting? CW doesn't intend to violate the law or "rip off" anyone. What Garmin sold it for isn't relevant in my state.
  • Where I grew up we had two competing furniture store chains that every week were having their biggest sale of the year with unbelievable discounts. CW doesn't seem much different.
