In the past I have been happy with the purchases I have made at camping world. Two events have changed that feeling.
About two months ago I purchased a replacement head for our wingman antenna. That weekend I followed the instructions for the replacement and found the indicator light did not come on, so I followed the trouble shooting tips and still no light. I called the Camping world I purchased it from to see what to do and was told to call the manufacture. I did they told me I had done all I could and to take it back for replacement. I call the Camping world back to make sure they had another one, being it was 30 miles away. They told me I could not bring it back, being I had installed it. I asked how I would have known it was defective it I had not installed it. I was told it did not matter. The manufacture understood our problem and sent a new one, they did not understand policy.
Then about 3 weeks ago out bathroom faucet needed replacement so we went to Camping world being we were sent a $50.00 gift certificate for joining Coast to coast. We made the purchase of it and 2 other items. We paid with the certificate and cash for the extra amount. This past week I was ready to install it and found out that it did not have the drain plug assembly unit. I found one that did and installed it. Today I went to return it and was told I would only receive $3.49 back even though it cost us $34.99. I was told we did not pay the $34.99 because we used the certificate. When I asked if we could at least receive in store credit for the amount we paid, I was told it was not Camping worlds policy. I ended this trip taking home a faucet I can not use rather then leaving it without credit.
These 2 policies are ones I do not understand. Just wondering am I the only one. Thank You
The OP is correct in questioning Camping World. They should have accepted the defective antenna head, gave their customer a new one and obtained a credit from their supplier.
Not obtaining a full refund via a store credit which is what a gift certificate actually is, was actually stealing the value of the certificate from the customer.
Camping World continually engages in customer unfriendly policies. While anyone can make a mistake, they seem to continually make the same mistakes over and over. Give them credit, they seem to act quickly to correct the problem for the one customer when posted here. But why do they even need a rapid response team? Empower at the store level managers to correct the problem.
Investing in making the customer right rather than investing in making the most profit will always grow any retail business. Home Depot did not get to be a great company in a relatively short time by mistreating their customers.
