Can I make my television play back through stereo receiver?

I have a Jensen JE1911 television connected via HDMI to a Jensen AWM975 stereo. I've been trying to find a way to get the TV to play back sound through the stereo system speakers instead of relying on...

Try turning your tv speakers off in the tv menu. I am not sure if it will work for your configuration but that is what I had to do with our sound plate.
