Can I make my television play back through stereo receiver?

I have a Jensen JE1911 television connected via HDMI to a Jensen AWM975 stereo. I've been trying to find a way to get the TV to play back sound through the stereo system speakers instead of relying on...

Try putting the stereo / dvd player on aux input. That is how I get my tv to play through the system speakers . May depend on how your tv is wired to the dvd player.

I asked a similar question when we got our new TT. Answer was supplied by someone on this forum and it solved my problem
