Can I make my television play back through stereo receiver?

I have a Jensen JE1911 television connected via HDMI to a Jensen AWM975 stereo. I've been trying to find a way to get the TV to play back sound through the stereo system speakers instead of relying on...

HDMI from DVD to TV is ONE WAY, signal to TV

TV does NOT output anything on HDMI back to DVD for stereo sound

you to use the stereo RCA jack output or the digital optical output, back to any amplifier stereo system that you want sound from
