Can I make my television play back through stereo receiver?

I have a Jensen JE1911 television connected via HDMI to a Jensen AWM975 stereo. I've been trying to find a way to get the TV to play back sound through the stereo system speakers instead of relying on...

I did mime by. Coming out of the speaker OUTPUT on the TV to the AUX INPUT on the Stereo. then you simply put the stereo to AUX, and there you go. the TV sound is coming out of the house speakers.

BTW. the stereo should have AUX inputs on the rear. I just pulled mine out of the hole, and hooked up, and slid it back in
