Can I make my television play back through stereo receiver?

I have a Jensen JE1911 television connected via HDMI to a Jensen AWM975 stereo. I've been trying to find a way to get the TV to play back sound through the stereo system speakers instead of relying on...

The TV in my camper doesnt have RCA outs but it does have a headphones jack. You buy a 1/8" phone to RCA adapter. I just ran that adapter from the headphone jack to the AUX in on the built in sound system
